In the "From Vise to Water" series, I move from the tying room towards the water, discussing topics that can have a major influence on the amount of fish caught during the outing. In many instances, specific flies that I previously tied for YouTube are included, with the "next steps taken" for those flies detailed.
The Fly that KILLED Fly Fishing?!?
Are there really flies that could kill fly fishing? In this video, I share some flies that have killed fly fishing for me...or have they?!? Aside from learning about those flies (which fish can’t resist!), you also get some "behind the scenes" YouTube stories. Most importantly, are there patterns over the years that have worked so well that you ALMOST felt guilty using them? I’d love to hear about those experiences, and please contact me HERE.

Euro nymphing is for CHEATERS! Or is it? In this one, you're the judge and jury as I share my experiences Euro nymphing for trout. This facet of fly fishing is so much fun and helps to catch more fish, but has a learning curve. What are your thoughts on Euro nymphing?

As part of the "From Vise to Water" series, in this episode, I discuss the various dry fly floatants that I use, specifically some used when pretreating and those applied on the water. Nothing is more frustrating than attempting to catch rising trout with a dry fly that won't float, thus I hope this video can be of benefit to all.

Orvis Safe Passage Sling: https://amzn.to/2C2Akzs
The search for a fly fishing vest is similar to the search for the Holy Grail...never-ending! Using the Orvis Safe Passage Sling Vest over the last couple seasons, I definitely have loved its versatility, especially to "sling" it out of my way. In this video, I go over some of its main features, concentrating on everything you need to know if interested in purchasing the vest.

Thanks for viewing this video, in which I share my thoughts on Ghostech strike indicators. Recently finding a spot in my vest, this new indicator is unique in that it lands much softer than other systems, yet also has the ability to hold heavier flies up in the water. In his video, I take time to go over the system, share my favorite colors, then explain situations in which I use Ghostech; enjoy!

In this episode of "From Vise to Water," I share my thoughts on Air-Lock strike indicators. These have found a spot in my vest over the last few years, and in this video, I share my favorite sizes, colors, and water types in which to use them.

Taking a toddler with you fly fishing may seem a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be! In this video, I share my experiences with taking my son Angelo fly fishing with me while he was a toddler, something I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. Join me as I share the pack, gear used, and some other tips to make this an enjoyable experience for all. Shout-out to my wife Heather for jumping into fly fishing, making this a true family activity and passion for us.

Yes, I absolutely love fly boxes...especially when they're "DIY!" In this fly fishing video, I share two pathways you can create with your fly boxes, then we take a closeup look at two that I have used in my own setup. Be sure to get your creativity going, and I hope this video helps to improve your fly box system for the water.

As part of the "From Vise to Water" series, in this episode, I discuss various situations and ways in which I prefer to fish large dry flies. A variety of topics is discussed, including types of water, the dry-dropper setup, and fishing tandem flies.

1. Containers for tube flies
2. Rigging tube flies with an improved cinch knot and double surgeon's loop
3. Using tube flies as part of a system

As part of the "From Vise to Water" series, in this episode, the discussion revolves around dropper as part of a tandem rig. More specifically, we discuss the notion of droppers below the point fly, discussing types of flies to use in this situation and a method to connect them.

In this episode of "From Vise to Water," I share a fly fishing tip that
helps get your fly back in the water quickly!

As part of the "From Vise to Water" series, in this episode, the discussion revolves around cleaning and maintaining your fly line, perhaps the most important piece of fly fishing equipment that's regularly used. I show the specific steps I take when cleaning my lines, and give tips along the way.

It's obvious that I'm a fly tier, but there are instances in which I buy flies. I discuss one of my favorite "flies to buy" and then ask all of you to share your thoughts on this topic.
In this episode of "From Vise to Water," I discuss the nail knot used when connecting both leaders and backing to a fly line. Prior to demonstrating the technique, there is a brief discussion of alternatives to the nail knot, and then later in the video, I share some tips to using this knot (plus instances in which I keep fly line loop connections intact). If interested in the tool I recommend, it is called the "Anglers Image Nail Knotter."
